National History

love and friendship across the continent

alpha Kappa Delta Phi was established at the University of California at Berkeley in the fall of 1989, and recognized by the College Panhellenic Association on February 7, 1990. The founding sxsters dedicated themselves to establishing a strong and lasting organization, which would provide Asian American womxn the opportunity to participate in the Greek system. Soon after being recognized by the College Panhellenic Association, the founding sxsters brought together a diverse group of womxn who shared with them the goals of sxsterhood, scholarship, and leadership. These ideals were to later set the foundation for alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s purpose.

The love and generosity that each member had for the organization was instrumental to the growth of alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s reputation as a sorority, as well as to the forging of unbreakable friendships. The sxsterhood has since then spread to prominent university campuses across the country. To meet the needs of the growing sxsterhood, the National Board of alpha Kappa Delta Phi was established in May of 1993 at the National Convention in Santa Barbara, California.

It is the sincere wish of the founding sxsters that alpha Kappa Delta Phi continue to promote Asian Awareness in the community and leadership for womxn by providing each womxn with the resources, unique sxsterly support and understanding to achieve her goals in life.

Chapter History

our story

The founding sxsters Elaine Chen, Melanie Dao, Anh Hoang, Tam Huynh, Aliyah Khan, Kriti Matta, Mili Mudiawala, Jennie Nguyen, Nguyet Nguyen, Thy Nguyen, Amber Quach, Samantha Rabino, V Sermon, Jamie Son, and Evelyn Wong wanted to establish an organization that would create a home away from home while raising Asian-Awareness at The University of Texas at Dallas. They worked towards the goal of bringing alpha Kappa Delta Phi onto their campus.

The interest group VENUS (Victorious Empowerment N United Sisterhood) was officially approved by the university as an official student organization on March 27th, 2018. After working tirelessly to promote the pillars of Sxsterhood, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Asian-Awareness, VENUS received unanimous approval from aKDPhi chapters across the continent to begin the process to establish a new chapter. They were hosted by the 49th Colony chapter, the University of Texas at Arlington. The 2020 National Board’s Officer of Education, Shyrelle Lebrias, was their New Member Educator (NME). With the guidance of their host chapter and NME, the Constellation Charters were able to charter the 59th colony chapter of alpha Kappa Delta Phi on March 7th, 2020.

The founding sxsters hope to see the continued promotion of the pillars, committed love and sxsterhood bonds, and endless growth and improvement of the chapter for years to come.
